Quick Glimpse of Spring

Sweater: J. Crew // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Chanel (mine are pre-owned from E-bay) // Vest: J. Crew (old) //
Sunglasses:Marc by Marc Jacobs // Bag: YSL vintage from E-bay

A quick outfit post from last weekend when the sun was actually shining. I threw on some lighter wash denim to transition to the season. Purchased these Gap jeans a size too big for more of a skinny boyfriend look.

It's going to be a rainy weekend here in New England but I will be keeping busy by attending kid's birthday parties. Is there any way to freeze time? I am loving these late toddler years when my son still has a little baby in him but is becoming more independent by the day. I hope you all have a great weekend!

New Balance Tomboy

Sneakers: New Balance // Pants: J. Crew // Shirt: H&M ( super old), similar here from Gap // Sweater: Zara (old) similar here from Gap // Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Bag: YSL pre-owned from E-bay similar here in green

I wear sneakers to work every day so I am not dying to wear them when I am running errands or out and about. I much prefer to wear my ankle boot or ballet flats with the idea that it is too easy to slip into a frumpy look when wearing sneakers. But after seeing one of my favorite bloggers, Sincerely Jules, rock these sneakers with a dress I decided to give them a try. I am so glad I tried these out, they are super comfy, and do afford some type of retro style to your look. They are great at dressing down a look in a casually chic way. Plus they are pretty practical for a busy mom or woman on the go! Want some more sneaker inspiration....see Google here.

Are you trying the retro sneaker look? Which are your favorite models?

Street Style to Mom Style: Ready for spring!

Street Style to Mom Style: Ready for spring!

Street Style to Mom Style: Ready for spring! by superchicmom featuring Madewell

So, I just got back from vacation and returned to pretty cold temps. When I saw this street style picture on Polyvore, I just fell in love. This is how I can't wait to feel...ready and joyous for when those spring days arrive and the sun feels warm on my back! I can't wait to break out some white ( and NOT winter white). It's officially spring this week...Yeah!!

And this girl's outfit is really cool. Only, I am wearing mine with flats. It's so chic yet everyday woman wearable, no?

How are you celebrating spring and what can you not wait to wear?

Wallet Love

After having my old wallet for over a decade I finally realized it was time to say goodbye after the binding and leather literally started falling apart. My previous wallet was a Coach fold over. I wasn't sure what to get next until I found this DVF leopard wallet on sale at Piperlime. With an extra 15% off and rewards coupons it came in under $100.00. While it was hard to say goodbye, I am loving the extra room and organization of a continental zip wallet. I also love that it has enough style to pass as a mini clutch.

After all, we women work in various ways so why shouldn't our wallets! What type of wallet do you like to carry? Do you change it out or carry the same one?

That Zara Coat Again

Jeans: Rag and Bone Skinny // Coat: Zara ( not online but check stores or E-bay) // Sweater: J. Crew ( very old) // Belt: J Crew ( also super old) // Boots: Madewell Billie S// Sunglasses: Foster Grant from CVS (less than $20 and polarized) // Bag: YSL Muse from E-bay // Lipstick: Smashbox in Mandarin

Well, it got cold again so I was able to put the fur collar back on this coat seen a post or so ago and wear it for a family dinner to Hibachi.

Hibachi is such a great place to take kids to because they are actually entertained and eat! My son eats so much more there because the food comes a little at a time. It's hard if you have little ones for them to have the patience to sit still through a meal ( at least mine has trouble).

At what age did your kids have the patience and endurance to go out and sit for a dinner? Where do you like to go on your family dinners?

Trench Coats under $150.00

Trench Coats under $150.00

Trench Coats under $150.00 by superchicmom featuring a pink coat

I have been on the hunt for the perfect trench coat for probably three years now. Caveat- I don't want to spend more than $150. I know a lot of people would say that a trench is an investment but for my budget a $700+ Burberry just doesn't work. I don't wear a trench coat more than a handful of times a year but like to have one in my wardrobe because they work great as a dressier spring coat as well if the occasion arises.

Here are my trench requirements: 1) somewhat water resistant 2) shorter collar 3) belt at waist 4) not super long to keep it more casual 5) not too light or dark 6) not stiff . I tried the Gap trench but I was in between sizes and couldn't get the right fit (even tried petite medium).  I tried the J. Crew Factory trench but found it to be very stiff . Comfort is key for any coats because otherwise you just pass them over and turn to something else in your closet.

So I am going to order these two above and give them a try. The one on the left is from H&M and is $70.00. The coat on the right is from Zara and is $140.00. I would love to hear your suggestions especially if you have a trench you love!
