Thanksgiving Look

Thanksgiving Look

Put this quick look together on Polyvore for some Turkey Day outfit inspiration. I feel like these are pieces a lot of us have in our closet (chambray shirt, printed pants, black pumps). These basics can be easily dressed up with statement earrings or a necklace and fur scarf for travel.

Do you get dressed up for Thanksgiving? Are you getting excited like I am for the season of dressing in feathers, sequins, and plaid?

Rainy November Day

Boots: Hunter // Vest: J. Crew Excursion ( last year, tis year's here)// Leggings: J. Crew Factory // Shirt: J. Crew factory // Bracelets: Stella & Dot renegade // Glasses: Target

A quick Friday post for you! Here is my lame attempt at trying to have a Jenna Lyons moment with the glasses. Instead of geek chic they just look kind of geek. But hey, that is what I really am at heart. sorry for the blurry pictures - taken in a light rain by my four year old.

Have a great weekend!

Street Style to Mom Style: Bus Stop Look

Street Style to Mom Style: Bus Stop Look

I have yet to have to get up early and wait with my child at the bus stop, but I often see Moms out there waiting as I drive to work. Some are in full suits ready to leave for work themselves. Then I see some others in pajamas (this is a judgment free zone, we are all just doing our best- see Why Superchicmom Post Here). Perhaps there is something in between? I wonder, will I be able to maintain some sense of chic this early in the morning? When I came upon this street style look, I realized it was the perfect inspiration for bus stop style. You could actually sleep in the sweats and tee - quickly throw on your booties, hat, and scarf. A blanket coat is the perfect warm topper. Lastly add a pop of nude lip color (red is a bit much before breakfast) and you are good to go. After all, part of looking chic is looking like you didn't try too hard...right?

What do you wear out at the bus stop?

Fall Blazer

Blazer: J. Crew Schoolboy Shirt: J. Crew Jeans: J. Brand (but purchased mine pre-owned on E-bay for < $50.00). Loafers: Old Navy Bag: YSL Muse from E-bay. Locket: gift (Thanks M.B.) Glasses: Number One from E-bay belt: J. Crew Factory (old)

This is an outfit I wore to Church and then running errands. I have a small collection of blazers because I sometimes struggle how to wear them when the weather gets cooler and you need something warmer on top. I hate stuffing them into my down coat. After all,  we Moms need our arms to feel unrestricted. I have tried this look with a down vest over as a topper. The great thing about a blazer is it pulls together an otherwise casual look ( jeans and a tee) and gives just enough polish you can easily transition to work, church, and dinner. I also am a fan of J. Crew's new Schoolboy Blazer. With a 25% off coupon it seems like a good value as a timeless piece I will have for years. The longer length of the new version is more flattering than the classic and the body seems more tailored. I was able to go up a size without it looking boxy so I can fit a sweater underneath to wear this deeper into fall and winter.

How do you style your blazers? Do you think blazers are practical for busy Moms?

Changing it Up with a Scarf

Changing it Up with a Scarf

I invested in a cable knit sweater from Zara last season and have been amazed in how versatile it is. Especially when you change it up with a scarf. A simple scarf change can really give you a different look pending the vibe you are going for ...and keep you warm! I have found throwing a stylish scarf on is a great way to look chic quickly when you are running out the door to the bus stop maybe? There are so many great affordable scarves out there!

What are your favorite scarves for fall?

Tweed Moto Jacket

Jacket: Target, last seen here (another cool version here) // Shirt: J. Crew and On Sale // Necklace: gifted // Bag: YSL from E-bay // Shoes: J. Crew Everly Wedge (similar here )// Lips: Smashbox Mandarin Jeans: Current/ Elliott Stiletto

Got out for a family dinner and this is what I wore after being inspired by Jill's Good Life For Less Post about "Uniforms". It is definitely great to have a few go to "uniform" outfits thought out in case you need to get dressed quickly. Nothing is worse than standing in front of a closet of clothes thinking you have nothing to wear! What are your go to outfits?
Have a great week!

Best New Beauty Under $40

Best New Beauty Under $40

Just wanted to share on this Friday some new products I have become a fan of as a result of getting some samples.

Benefit - They're Real Mascara: Really amps up your lashes, stays on but also comes off easy. It also feels really light and remains soft.

Buxom Lip Gloss - What can I say, Kyle Richards , my favorite Beverly Hills housewife is a fan. This stuff does make your lips look and feel fuller. You can definitely feel it working. It comes in pretty colors and feels light as well.

Urban Decay Naked Foundation - I have been looking for a foundation that provided more natural coverage and was not chalky for days when I am not using BB cream and don't need a higher SPF. I have tried drug store brand foundation without much luck. I can just never buy the right color. I got color matched at Sephora and this was one of the options for my skin tone. It glides on lovely, is illuminating and yet filled with good stuff for your skin. I find it really makes me look fresh - and what Mom wouldn't want that! If you try this, definitely get matched, I needed a color that I thought would be way too dark, but the skin i.d. was right.

Please note I am NOT getting paid to promote these products. I just really like them!

What are your fave beauty products going into fall?
