Already In Your Closet: Cable Sweater

Already In Your Closet: Cable Sweater

Already In Your Closet: Cable Sweater by superchicmom featuring indigo blue jeans

I am trying to focus more posts here on the blog on using pieces you potentially already have in your closet vs. having to buy new things. I thought today I would focus on your cable knit sweater. I am looking for a way to style mine in a new way. How about with a camel coat (also probably already in your closet) and those affordable calf hair sneakers you saw and maybe bought from this September post? Throw on this oversize scarf for under $30 and a pom hat and you are just on trend!

The ways you can style a cable sweater are endless, no? How do you style yours?

Fall Cravings - Travel in Style

Fall Cravings - Travel in Style

Fall Cravings - Travel in Style by superchicmom featuring lips makeup

As I get ready to go to the beach one last time with the family, my fall fashion magazines have started arriving. Seeing all the warm and deep colors of fall fashion are  inspiring and lead me to thinking about the good things when the leaves fall - warm cozy sweaters, hot chocolate, and travel. I put this look together for a casual fall day - perhaps getting on a plane to Florida? Or perhaps, for a cool late summer evening.

What are you craving for fall? Have any fall travel plans? Or do you live where the weather stays warm?

As always, thanks for stopping by and for staying so chic!

Black and White Swimwear

Back and White Swimwear

Back and White Swimwear by superchicmom featuring j crew shoes

I have always been a bikini girl, but there are certain situations where I have felt a one piece would not only be appropriate but chicer. For example- children's pool parties, water parks, and the local town pool. I am lucky that at my age I still feel confident enough to wear a bikini even rocking my little belly pouch that so proudly grew after having my son. Men have their battle scars and we have our own version! But I have finally committed to a one piece and bought this one from Loft.

The best part is there are so many amazing stylish one piece suits designed for all body styles to flatter that are more than your simple tank.

Do you like to wear a one piece or are a bikini only gal?

Fantasy Holiday

Fantasy Holiday

This is the time of year when we busy moms may actually get a chance or two to dress up. So, why not go all out with my favorite holiday combination of tartan and sequins. Whether it's your own holiday party, a work party, or new year's - this is your chance to do it up in some fantasy pieces. After all, you would look a little funny going out to the grocery store in sequins ( unless you live in L.A. or New York). And at these prices - these items are almost OK to wear only once a year. Although I would totally wear the tartan tee with a white turtleneck, blazer, and pumps for date night.

What are you excited to wear this holiday season?

Thanksgiving Look

Thanksgiving Look

Put this quick look together on Polyvore for some Turkey Day outfit inspiration. I feel like these are pieces a lot of us have in our closet (chambray shirt, printed pants, black pumps). These basics can be easily dressed up with statement earrings or a necklace and fur scarf for travel.

Do you get dressed up for Thanksgiving? Are you getting excited like I am for the season of dressing in feathers, sequins, and plaid?

Street Style to Mom Style: Bus Stop Look

Street Style to Mom Style: Bus Stop Look

I have yet to have to get up early and wait with my child at the bus stop, but I often see Moms out there waiting as I drive to work. Some are in full suits ready to leave for work themselves. Then I see some others in pajamas (this is a judgment free zone, we are all just doing our best- see Why Superchicmom Post Here). Perhaps there is something in between? I wonder, will I be able to maintain some sense of chic this early in the morning? When I came upon this street style look, I realized it was the perfect inspiration for bus stop style. You could actually sleep in the sweats and tee - quickly throw on your booties, hat, and scarf. A blanket coat is the perfect warm topper. Lastly add a pop of nude lip color (red is a bit much before breakfast) and you are good to go. After all, part of looking chic is looking like you didn't try too hard...right?

What do you wear out at the bus stop?

Street Style to Mom Style - Leather

Street Style to Mom Style

When I saw this street style photo I was in awe of this model's simple but chic look and wanted to translate it to something that wouldn't look crazy wearing around town in the suburbs! I love leather pants but they can read a bit too much in real life unless you are at a club. Coated jeans are a great option because they have the leather look but are denim. An even better option is a pair of leggings with leather side panels. You get a touch of leather for the edge, but they are still so comfy and you can bend down to pick up the kids or that toy you almost tripped over for the tenth time. Use your leopard loafers from a few posts ago and you are ready to roll! I love how this model tones down the leather with some cozy cable knit. Zara also has some great cable options here and here.

I think it's key to keep the makeup simple when you are wearing leather and leopard...what do you think?

What are your thoughts on leather pants, coated jeans, and leather paneled leggings? Would you wear them? Are they Mom friendly?

Summer Stripes into Fall

Summer Stripes into Fall
I really don't want summer to be over since it is my favorite season! In this look, I am trying to find a way to stretch some of my summer items into fall with things I already have. What items are you stretching into fall?

I have a few friends whose kids are off to kindergarten or college! How is everyone doing with your kids back at school?

Have  great day!

Summer Sales Fall Finds

Summer Sales Fall Finds
So the summer sales are on! The bad news, doesn't summer fly by after the fourth of July. And the back to school stuff is already in the front rows at the stores (it is TOO SOON)! There is good news. I have found some mom friendly fall fashion on sale now! The J. Crew Site is an extra 40% off sale for the sweater and jeans. The Madewell boots are not on sale online- but are in stores with an extra 40 % off (may have snagged a pair with such a walkable heel and love her style). The camo  coat is reduced at Nasty Gal from $88.00 to $40.00! And J. Crew factory is 40% off too for the bag. What are you buying this summer sale season?
