Feeling Spring Blues

Feeling Spring Blues
There is something about dressing in various shades of blue that is so easy and casual , yet - put together. The great and easy thing for moms dressing in all blue is you really can throw items that don't "match" together and end up with a chic look . Throw on a pink or neutral lip and a utility vest and you are ready to go. These H&M heels are under $20.00 and have a walkable heel! What colors are you putting all together this spring?  FYI: J Crew Factory having 50% off everything in the store. Next Post: How to Spend less for the things you really want.

Holiday Craving - Tartan and Sparkle

Holiday Craving - Tartan and Sparkle
Well, the holidays are approaching rapidly and despite filling up on turkey I still have a craving -planning my holiday party outfit (which usually consists of a dress and tights). This year I am going to try something different. A tartan print totally evokes the holidays for me and who can resist some sequins. The sequins add a little glam to what could be an  almost dowdy print. If you have a little one - babies love looking at sequins...anything that shines and reflects the light is an eye catcher.  If I have put on a few pounds from all the indulging, I will blame it on the plaid. And a great tip - keep wearing your sequins all year long by toning them down after with a chambray shirt with a sequin bottom, or a turtleneck under the sequin tops and jeans below. What are you craving this holiday...other than sleep and everyone getting along?

Red Hot Mama

Red Hot Mama
There is something about a pop of red that just adds Parisian chic to any outfit. Keeping it fall is the tartan blazer. To keep this look from being too collegiate throw on a pair of cat eye sunglasses and a faux fur scarf. I could just imagine walking in Paris wearing this. See how one of my favorite celebs Olivia Palermo rocks tartan here. And okay...chances are we aren't going to be walking in Paris but down the aisle in the grocery store...too much? Never! And if the kids start melting down at check out and you want to imagine you are in Paris -  just click your heels three times.

Summer to Fall Must Haves

Summer to Fall Must Haves
I love when my September issues start arriving with the promise of new trends, and things I must have. Oh - but wait- I am on a budget (at least if my child wants to go to college someday). So that editorial D & G floral dress is just not going to work for me; I might look a little crazy wearing it to the playground. So I reassess, what is in my closet and how can I work it through the year? Do these items look familiar...yes! These are things that I - and you -likely already own and can easily mix and match to meet the crazy fall temps. I am crazy for this Kate Spade tote. I own similar in beige. But could it look any more Chanel at about 1/5th of the cost? And the chambray shirt just keeps getting better every time you wash it after getting some type of child hand print on it. Sad summer is leaving, but can't wait to start layering! What are your thoughts super chic moms?

Summer to Fall With Color

Summer to Fall With Color
Fall usually calls to mind earth tones and wooly layers - but wait - summer isn't over yet! I am so loving bright colors to make the transition from summer to fall. Plus with the bright colors, your kids will definitely be able to locate their mommy ASAP when they are running around at the playground. Plus, these pieces are all so versatile and will mix and match. So bring on the bright color cords!

Summer To Fall Silk

Summer To Fall Silk
I know what you are thinking....silk...for a mom? I know  it does take a little more care, and you might not want to wear this if you know there is a good chance you are going to get spit up on, but the silhouette of this blouse is utterly casual and it can transition super well into fall if you add a grey cardigan or blazer. Still hot out? Trade the jean for denim shorts. This top can be so easily dressed up with the necklace, but you could even try it with sweatpants and these flats. I know the bag is a little pricey, but it is just so sick I couldn't resist. A Mom does need to splurge now and then. I am obsessed with turquoise and a pop of bright pink or coral.on the lips. For fall, change the coral out for the red matte lip that I am reading is going to be the it lip for fall.

Hot Summer Party Wear

Hot Summer Party Wear
So, invited to a party with or without the kids and it's going to be really HOT because it's summer and we are having a heat wave? Hmmmm....what to wear? Here are two ideas inspired by some chic moms I spotted lately. One  option if you need to be a little dressier, and the other option more casual. I am crazy for Ray Ban's new wayfarers. They have a smaller frame and are still retro. By the way, J Crew 40% off final sale right now, so shop some of the above items before they go and still afford the formula. :)
